Codee3 is a free Windows IDE that runs your own Gemini CLI, unmodified, beside your code. You sign in inside Gemini CLI, and Codee3 handles no Google sign-in or token. Check your account first: on 18 June 2026 Google replaced Gemini CLI with Antigravity CLI for unpaid and Google One accounts.
Which Google accounts still work with Gemini CLI?
Not unpaid or Google One accounts. Google’s own pages say that for unpaid and Google One users, Gemini CLI was replaced by Antigravity CLI on 18 June 2026. Codee3 runs Gemini CLI, not Antigravity CLI, so on those accounts Gemini CLI may not work in Codee3 either. Google’s README lists three ways in: sign in with Google with your organisation’s paid Gemini Code Assist licence, a Gemini API key, or Vertex AI.

Gemini CLI itself doesn’t change. Codee3 starts your own copy, on your own account, under Google’s terms. What Codee3 adds is the window around it: an editor, a terminal and your project, with every agent’s chat beside them.
Free, for as long as you like
- A code editor, terminal, search and extensions
- Gemini CLI chats beside your code: start as many as you like
- Claude Code and Codex in the same window, if you use them too
- Needs you: most questions an agent stops to ask, in one rail
- Agents read the project brain, a written record of what you decided
- Each new agent in its own git worktree; land its work in one step, and undo it
- Up to 2 projects open at a time
Founder, US$149 a year, adds
- An orchestrator: say what you want in plain words, and it plans the jobs
- Helpers working in parallel, each in its own git worktree
- Guards: a change that breaks a recorded decision is stopped
- Unlimited projects
1. Install Node.js and Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI is an npm package, so it needs Node.js 20 or later. Google recommends Windows 11 24H2 or later. Codee3 uses Git for every project, so install Git for Windows too if you don’t have it.
Requirements and the npm package from geminicli.com/docs/get-started/installation (last updated 14 May 2026), checked 2026-10-21.2. Sign in, inside Gemini CLI
Run gemini once in a terminal and choose Google sign-in, or set it up with a Gemini API key or Vertex AI, as Google’s README describes. The sign-in stays between you and Google. Codee3 handles no Google sign-in or token, and never resells AI.
Sign-in options from github.com/google-gemini/gemini-cli, checked 2026-10-21.3. Open your folder in Codee3
Open Codee3, choose your project’s folder, then press New agent and choose Gemini. Its chat opens beside your files, and every agent you start is listed there, each with its own stop. Nothing in your folder is converted or moved, so you can still run gemini in a terminal whenever you like.
Known limits today
- Gemini CLI may not work on unpaid Google accounts since June 2026.
- Codee3 runs Gemini CLI. It doesn’t run Antigravity CLI.
Each release and what it fixed is on the changelog. Using Claude too? See the Claude Code GUI for Windows. Coming from Cursor? See how Codee3 differs from an editor that sells its own AI.
